ECM & module imaging
Forensically sound extraction from the modules that record pre-crash and event data.
- Engine ECMs across major OEMs
- ABS / brake ECUs, including Bendix and WABCO
- Eaton and other transmission modules
- Trailer data
Heavy truck crash reconstruction · Digital data forensics
More than 20 years reconstructing collisions, with a focus on what the truck itself recorded. Engine, brake, transmission, collision mitigation, ELD and telematics data, imaged correctly and explained clearly.
About
I'm Steve Anderson. I spent 23 years in law enforcement, and more than 80% of that career reconstructing collisions. I reconstruct crashes of every vehicle type, but my focus is heavy trucks and the digital data they record.
I own and drive a truck myself. That operator experience shapes how I read the data: what a driver could see, feel and do in the seconds before a crash. Truck Crash Specialists gathers every available source of data from a heavy truck, so your case is built on the most complete record possible.
Services
Data imaging, analysis and reconstruction across the major heavy truck OEM platforms.
Forensically sound extraction from the modules that record pre-crash and event data.
Analysis of radar and camera-based safety systems and what they detected, warned and did.
Recovery and interpretation of fleet systems, with dashcam video aligned to the truck's data.
Full reconstruction of heavy truck, bus and passenger vehicle collisions, with the digital record tested against the physical evidence.
Live crash tests designed around your conference, training event or research question.
Clear written reports and expert testimony that explain technical data to a judge and jury.
How a case works
Truck data can be overwritten or lost when a truck goes back into service. The earlier we talk, the more data can be saved.
Tell us about the crash. We'll tell you what data likely exists, where it lives and how quickly it needs to be preserved.
We image the modules on the truck and trailer, using the correct software and documented protocols.
The data is decoded, validated and tied to the scene, the vehicles and any available video.
You receive a clear report of the findings, and we are available for deposition and trial.
24 hour rapid response is available for scene work and data preservation.
Who we work with
Plaintiff and defense counsel who need the truck's data preserved, decoded and explained.
Claims professionals and adjusters who need an early, objective look at what happened.
Trucking companies responding to a crash and protecting their drivers and data.
Law enforcement and private investigators who need help with heavy truck data.
Heavy truck & bus crash testing
Our team has run more than 134 live instrumented crash tests: passenger vehicles, buses, motorcycles, cyclists, pedestrians, roadside safety systems, commercial vehicles and vessels. Select a test to watch it.

Education & training
Training is a large part of what we do. Basic and advanced courses cover investigation and imaging protocols, taught to US and Canadian classes through Forensic Training Group.
Training guide
Answer up to three questions to see which Forensic Training Group classes to take, and in what order.
Dates and locations for every class are on the Forensic Training Group course calendar.
